New Report from AcademyHealth and ABIM Foundation
Improving quality and enhancing value in health care delivery is a national priority, and research related to overuse of health care services is growing rapidly. The ABIM Foundation’s Choosing Wisely® campaign is one effort to help stimulate conversations on waste and overuse; however, research faces significant challenges due to funding lags and dissemination barriers.
In early 2014, ABIM Foundation partnered with AcademyHealth to convene a small invitational meeting to discuss the current landscape and opportunities, priorities and challenges related to sponsoring, conducting and disseminating research on health care resource utilization.
The results of this meeting are summarized in a new report, Promoting the Appropriate Use of Health Care Services: Research and Policy Priorities. This report presents a framework for prioritizing future research related to health care resource utilization.
