Clear, honest communication during uncertain moments is essential for building trust in clinical care. Yet many clinicians find it challenging to talk openly about diagnostic uncertainty with patients or even with their colleagues.

A new learning module – developed by Thomas Jefferson University, University of California San Francisco, and Deakin University through the Building Trustworthiness by Addressing Uncertainty in Medicine grant program – offers guidance on how to navigate these difficult conversations thoughtfully and effectively.

The free, self-paced course includes practical tools, case examples, and strategies clinicians can apply in everyday practice. The course is recommended to all learners in the health professions who regularly encounter diagnostic uncertainty in their work.
