2024 Building Trust Essay Contest
Trust is a central aspect of improving health care, and relationships between patients, clinicians, and health care organizations need to be grounded in trust in order to succeed.
To highlight the underlying importance of trust in health care, and elevate the student perspective, the ABIM Foundation’s Building Trust Essay Contest asks students of health professions to engage in a reflective writing exercise about their experiences with trust.
This year, students are asked to tell a story that illustrates an experience engaging in meaningful dialogue with someone whose views are different from their own, in pursuit of enhancing patient care.
The Building Trust Essay Contest is open to students of all health professions (e.g., nursing, medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and others) at accredited schools of medicine in the United States. Submissions must be an original essay of 750 words or less.
Up to four winners will each receive an all-expenses-paid invitation to the ABIM Foundation’s annual conference (July 27-30, 2024, in Stevenson, WA). Winning essayists will also receive support in submitting their essays to one or more prestigious national medical publications. All winning essays and up to 10 honorable mentions will be published on www.BuildingTrust.org, and will receive recognition in select newsletters and on social media.
The deadline for submission is March 22, 2024 and winners will be notified in early May. Learn more about the contest and submit your essay. (https://bit.ly/BTEssayContest24)
